Constantin Orasan is Professor of Language and Translation Technologies at the Centre of Translation Studies, University of Surrey. 

He has over 20 years experience of working in the fields of Natural Language Processing, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning for language processing. His research interests are largely focused on facilitating information access and include translation technology, sentiment analysis, question answering, text summarisation, and anaphora and coreference resolution. His recent projects focused on using NLP to facilitate access to justice. 

In his talk, Constantin will discuss the challenges of translating emotions in user-generated content. This is particularly relevant given that machine translation engines are commonly used to translate user-generated content on social media sites like Twitter and Facebook. In some cases, the translation happens automatically, and the users do not even get the chance to see the original text.
